Even a small town in the Philippines is not spared

            One of our towmates, a son of the long-time beloved postmaster of our town of Malinao, Aklan, the Philippines, was in the second tower of the World Trade Center when it collapsed.  He was an engineer supervising the remodelling of one of the floors.  

These are shots of the masoleum that was built by his family in our town cemetery; also included is a scan of an article in Filipinas magazine written by one of his nieces.

Our town of Malinao, Aklan is situated on Panay island in the central islands of the Philippines.  It has a population of about 24000 ... and is far far far away from New York City.  Yet, up to now, the town is affected by the tragedy that happened ten years ago.
