Bio Gravensteiner_print - a photo on Flickriver

            Der "Gravensteiner" ist ein Sommerapfel, der von Ende August bis Mitte September erntereif ist. Einst weltweit verbreitet, mit Schwerpunkten in Europa von Südtirol bis Norwegen, in Kalifornien und im kanadischen Nova Scotia, hat seine kommerzielle Bedeutung in den letzten Jahrzehnten stark nachgelassen und er ist vor allem als Liebhabersorte verbreitet.

The "Gravensteiner" is a summer apple, ready for harvest from late August to mid-September. Once widespread throughout the world, with focal points in Europe from South Tyrol to Norway, in California, and in Nova Scotia, Canada, its commercial importance has greatly diminished in recent decades and it is distributed mainly as a hobbyist variety.
