China light Zoo Antwerp 2016 (1st series)

From 3 December 2016 to mid January 2017, sixteen Chinese artists launch in the ZOO of Antwerp a lot of constructing handmade metal structures to images in three dimensions. Lights are mounted in these structures after the forms are covered with meters colored satin and painted. This is done by hand or with the paint brush. Once ready, the figures are fitted into the garden or they form a beautiful scene. Mythical dragons, graceful birds, animals inspired by ours, flowers, lanterns, vases, ... all lights on after sunset and they bring the ZOO in a magical spell. The Festival of Lights or Chinese New Year is based on a more than 1000 year old tradition.
