Scaptia (Scaptia) tricolor - a photo on Flickriver

            I wore black trousers today. I was lucky as the local 'March flies' are attracted by black, so this fly was sitting on my black jeans.

I have never known this particular fly to bite but must remember that others do. It won't be long before the biting ones arrive. 

These flies are so pretty.
