This course is for those who already have some metal skills in jewellery but they want to get involved in the usage of iron in jewellery making. This metal is not only beautiful itself but it offers endless possibilities by its malleability, strength and you can give it the most exciting finishes from shiny to rough and jagged. The course is also useful for those who want to keep working non-ferrous metals because it opens your mind in design. Even though it is not stainless steel, practically in the conditions that we maintain around our body it does not get rusty. And it has a lovely fragrance too.
The “Fragrance of Iron” course lasts 3+2 occasions.
One lesson takes 2 hours. Each lesson starts with the introduction of the project, a demonstration and then all students realise the project with my supervision.
The lessons are on Saturday afternoon from 4 pm – 6pm (Italian time). On day 0 we do half an hour of an informal meeting (free of charge). On the 4th week I give a lecture to those participants who wish to join. In the first course this 4th lesson is free.
The lessons are in English but for request I can also launch an Italian and a Hungarian class, please contact me if you would be interested.
The maximum number of participants is 4, the minimum is 3.
The platform of the course is Zoom.
The cost of the course is 220 euroes, this amount is due to be paid before May 15. Payment methods: Revolute, bank transfer, Pay Pal. Please contact me for details.
I am flexible with the time of the lessons (4pm-6pm Italian time). If you live on a continent where it is painfully early or extremely late, we can find an alternative that is fine for everybody.

Equipment you need:
- You need to have a stable bench with a vise.
. Torch: A propane torch that is used for jewellery work or a simple plummer torch.
- Pliers
- Hacksaw
- Files, sandpaper
- Jeweller saw
- Hammer
- A bowl of water
- Camera stand so you can direct your camera to the work you do
Materials you need (Please contact me if you need help in finding these):
- Half inch mild steel pipe (about 10 cm)
- Wire (about 3-4mm), mild steel
- Square mild steel rod 5 or 6 mm
About me: I am a self taught jewellery artist, originally trained in agricultural sciences. I like to experiment with all sorts of materials from organic to non-organic, from metalicious to non-metal. Like other jewellers, I use silver, gold and cuprous metals but my speciality is ferrous jewellery. I was born in Budapest, Hungary. After my studies I moved to the UK but 18 years ago I moved to Italy, this is where I live and work now, in a small village near Genoa.

I made a Facebook group for the participants of the courses where you can post your related ironwork, you can ask questions, discuss any related topic and keep in touch. The name of the private group is “The Fragrance of Iron”.
After this course I will launch others, on riveting, mixed metal techniques, electronic etching, the creative process and many more topics of the iron jewellery, so you can continue the journey. You can also request personal coaching during or after the course if you need extra help or you want to deepen in a particular detail.
