The L.N.E.R. Station & Semaphores at Bridlington - 6473

Fortunately there _are_ regular(ish) passenger services to bring a little extra colour to the scene but at his time of year its just down to the Northern Rail services plying north/south between Hull & Sheffield to and from here and Scarborough. The signal posts are all looking in need of a lick of paint, the arms, of typical Midland design, are faring a little better and the ones seen in this shot are those which are used the most as they control passenger moves in and out of the station site. The approaching train does at least have some interest as it is formed from two DMU classes, at the front, a single class 153, 153304 and hooked on at the rear a multiple unit, class 158, 158844 working the 2W18, Hull to Scarborough service. The line from Hull in the south is double track but that to the north, beyond beyond the station, to Bempton, Hunmanby, Filey & north to Scarborough, has been singled so the set will have to wait for a passing movement from an approaching service from Scarborough, due in around 10 minutes. Bridge HBS-19 looks to be 30 miles and 68 chains(22 yards) from its origin in Hull and in the background, the large Bridlington South Signalbox of North Eastern design. Built in 1895, it originally 126 levers in its McKenzie and Holland frame, but this has now been reduced to 65 and not many of them I guess, are used regularly.
