8x Triëder Binocle, Telemeter Lt.-Colonel Jonescu, manufactured by C.P. Goerz Berlin, in very few specimens, between 1908 and 1910, intended for observers and sharpshooters of the Romanian Army allied with Germany and part of the Central States, during the First World War.

What makes this binoculars practically unique is the presence, on the right eyepiece, of a telemetry device invented by Lieutenant Colonel Jonescu, which provides the observer with essential and precise information about the objective that is placed between the two internal lines of the eyepiece, adjustable, compared to what you are observing, through the appropriate knurled knob. The relative detection of what is being observed is read on a double metric scale through the windows of the rangefinder and is divided as follows:

INFANTERIST (Infantry)
INTREG (Standing) = 1m,70
GENUCHT (On Knees) = 1m,40

CALARET (Cavalry)
CU CAL (Soldier on Horseback) = 2m,40
FARA CAL (Without Horse) = 1m,55

To use the Rangefinder proceed as follows:
Make sure the telemetry mechanism is in a vertical position;
Observe a person, an animal or any other thing located at a distance of no less than 50 meters;
Very slowly rotate the small knurled knob of the telemetry mechanism located on the right eyepiece of the binoculars, until the two lines in a horizontal position, inside the eyepiece, correspond to the vertical extremes of the subject/object you are observing;
Read the metric scale, located on the telemetry mechanism, which will provide us with the exact distance of the observed subject/object.

The binoculars are also equipped with their original leather flap to be attached to the buttons of the jacket. The rangefinder system and all mechanisms, including the internal reticle, work precisely and correctly. The view is clear, collimated and bright. The original leather case is complete with its shoulder strap. These binoculars are one of the most complex ever made, and the first to have an integrated mechanical rangefinder device.
