This photograph makes me realise what I am doing with my Rhine series. The point is: this scene is as real as any scene in neo topographic of urban decay style that I do find along the Rhine. Thematically, from my interest in people's use of the landscape, the most important part in this photograph is the fishermen near their cars. But the caring, lush, rich landscape makes the point. Anyone living in safety near such a wonder is blessed. A good landscape is a place in which to live. Modern landscape photography's fascination with the destruction of such places has almost become a cliché by now. With so many people having to flee their once safe landscapes nowadays, I cherish the one I/we live in, peacefully, with even greater intensity than usual.
