Yucca aloifolia L. 1753 (ASPARAGACEAE).

            Sinónimos. Dracaena lenneana Regel; Yucca crenulata Haw.; Yucca serrulata Haw.
Arbolitos perennifolios de 3-6 m de alto. Tallos erectos y rara vez ramificados, finalizados por un penacho de hojas de 60-90 cm de ancho. Hojas punzantes, con forma de daga, de 30-45 cm de largo x 2,5-3,5 cm de ancho, con la mayor anchura en el centro de la lámina, ápice espinoso. Flores agrupadas en panícula densa de 30-60 cm de largo, flores individuales de unos 5 cm de largo, blanco cremosas, con la base teñida de púrpura. Fruto en cápsula carnosa. Especie nativa del sureste de Estados Unidos y este de Méjico. En Iturraran se encuentra en la zona 6.

Small evergreen trees 3–6 m high. Stems erect and infrequently ramified, ending in plumes of leaves 60–90 cm wide. Leaves sharp, dagger-shaped, 30–45 cm long x 2.5–3.5 cm wide, with the greatest width in the centre of the lamina, apex thorny. Flowers grouped in dense panicles 30–60 cm long, individual flowers about 5 cm long, creamy white, base purple-tinted. Fruit in fleshy capsule. Species native to the south-eastern United States and eastern Mexico. In Iturraran it is found in area 6.
