Berberis x ottawensis C.K.Schneid. ex Rehder 1927 (BERBERIDACEAE) 'Auricoma'.

            Arbusto caducifolio, híbrido de Berberis thunbergii x Berberis vulgaris, de hasta 2 m de alto. Parecido a Berberis thunbergii, pero ramas normalmente pardo amarillentas, a veces rojizas. Hojas obovadas, de hasta 3 cm de largo, parcialmente enteras y parcialmente finamente dentadas. Flores agrupadas en racimos o umbelas, amarillas, con el exterior rojizo. Frutos ovados, rojos. Durante mucho tiempo cultivado, solamente a partir de 1923 se supo que era un híbrido. En Iturraran se encuentra en la zona 4.

Deciduous bush, hybrid of Berberis thunbergii x Berberis vulgaris, up to 2 m in height. Similar to Berberis thunbergii, but its branches are normally yellowish dun, sometimes reddish. Leaves are obovate, up to 3 cm long, partially entire and partially finely serrate. Flowers are grouped in racemes or umbels, yellow, and reddish on the outside. Fruit is ovate & red. Grown for a long time, it was only after 1923 that is was known to be a hybrid. In Iturraran is found in area 4.
