Red Shield Bug - Carpocoris mediterraneus ssp. atlanticus

So far, I seen only a handful of shieldbugs since being in Spain and usually when I don't have the camera with me. However yesterday morning close by the banks of the Rio Serpis river, found a single adult shieldbug on an isolated plant. This species does seem to have quite a bit of variation in the markings, some individuals having a more distinct pattern than others, this one being less so.

Best viewed very large.
