Probably a male. Shot at a non-descript parking area for horse trailers on the way to a fen were the good butterflies were supposed to be. Never having seen one of these before, I thought it was pretty good also. I will add it to the fen set also just because.

Reason I say it is a male is my Illinois butterfly book says the females are much lighter then the males, and I shot a very pale one at the fen. Will post that later.

Edited to add: Probably not an Eyed Brown, rather a Northern Pearly-eye. Sure wish I had an upper wing shot too.
