The most intact arch of The Old Bridge of Livet. Cairngorms, Scotland.

The Old Bridge of Livet is what was a 3 arch packhorse bridge. Until the early nineteenth century, the Old Bridge at Bridgend of Glenlivet carried the Glenlivet to Inveravon road over the River Livet. The bridge probably dates from the early eighteenth century, and is believed to have been built by the Marquis of Huntly or the Duke of Gordon who had estates in the area. It is built of rubble masonry and consists of two hump-backed arches, each standing on natural rocky outcrops in the river. In 1829, following the Muckle flood which damaged or destroyed several bridges in Glenlivet, this structure was badly damaged.
