'Flower Girl' by Nicolai Fechin - a photo on Flickriver

            Nikolai Ivanovich Fechin(1881-1955) was a Russian-American painter known for his portraits and works featuring Native Americans. In 1927 Fechin settled with his family in Taos, New Mexico, which was developing as an arts center. The Taos mountains reminded him of the beauty he had seen in Siberia. He felt particularly close to the Native Americans, and many of his most acclaimed works done in the United States were of the Native Americans. Fechin had great affection for Taos and became a naturalized American citizen while living there.
