Contaflex 126 Original Manual (German)

            I have a acquired a bundle of old user manuals and brochures for Zeiss Ikon (and Voigtländer, which belonged to Zeiss Ikon since the 1950s) cameras and lenses. 

I need only some of this material, but I had to buy the whole bundle, so I will divest myself of the remainder in the near future. Please contact me via direct message if you are interested in any of the items I will be putting up. 

The Contaflex  126 was not a real member of the Contaflex line of well made 35 mm SLRs. It was designed for use with type 126 (Instamatic) film cassettes and featured exchangeable lenses, TTL metering and a focal plane shutter, which indicates that it was quite a different beast from the Contaflexes proper. 

It was quite a well equipped camera, all of which was rather an overkill given the deficient quality of type 126 cassettes. What's the point in having an array of expensive lenses and metering precisely if the film can't be guaranteed to lie flat against a plate? There was no point. They had once again misread the market. 

About 25,000 of the type were sold, which is in itself an achievement, given the complete pointlessness of the elaborate and expensive design, but of course, such sales are not sufficient for commercial success and further accelerated the demise of the company.
