Assateague Sandpiper in Flight - a photo on Flickriver

            So I transition from one kind of flight shot to another with this post. This past week the boys and I did our yearly migration to Ocean City, MD and Assateague Island National Seashore.

In all our years of going we've been beyond lucky weather-wise but that all changed this year as we were basically rained out, with one day consisting of a gale. What a crazy day that was.

But you can't keep us down for long and we certainly made the most of it, even venturing onto the beach at Assateague the day before the full gale hit.

No picturesque horse shots with an ocean backdrop this time around but if you have some patience and absorb your environment photo moments usually present themselves.

We had two sandpipers entertain us with their scrambling and their scuffling and though 99% of the time they were running around looking for their tiny tasty tidbits that'd reveal themselves as the water receded, every now and then they'd briefly take to the air...
