The sky was so blue that day... - a photo on Flickriver

            At lunchtime a few days ago, on a sailboat named Tara expertly captained by a gentleman named Dave, we took in the view of lower Manhattan.

It was a spontaneous sight-seeing trip Laura put together for an out-of-town friend. Captain Dave said the winds were the best he'd had all week and as those favorable winds filled the big white sails we all smiled.

The sun shone warmly down on us as we cut through the water heading towards Lady Liberty, her steely gaze and raised torch a steady presence amongst the hustle and bustle of boat traffic in New York harbor. Slowly the skyline grew smaller behind us while we talked about how much had changed over the last 15 years.

15 years. Hard to believe that many years have gone by. As we sailed and looked back at our city still coping with all that had happened and all that still needs to be done, One World Trade stood proudly, shining brightly, anchoring a skyline forever changed.
