Coal and Fire clay working, Quarry Bank

            In a previous picture (BC,041) I showed a quarry at Quarry Bank in Staffordshire, the same remarks apply over the location and context. This would have been shown in the lecture after the picture at the top of the quarry, illustrating what happened in the quarry.
I just like it because it is a nice picture of a big Lima 2400 excavator.
I can just imagine Maurice Stedman, maybe he was in wellies, no hard hat, goggles, safety boots or a luminous orange tabard. He would certainly not have signed documents absolving the owners of blame for every possible accident including being trampled to death by a herd of Wildebeest. No, Maurice would have be told "Be careful, don't get in the way, see you for a pie and a pint at the pub in about an hour"
