BR (ex LMS) loco No. 47460 @ Rowsley - Rail Tour Mar 1962

An old photograph taken on a 'shed bash', of steam tank locomotive No. 47460 at Rowsley. This engine spent its life working from Rowsley shed (17D 1924-1958, 17C 1958-1963, and 16J 1963-1967).

This is in a rail enthusiast old photo album, on the photo reverse is annotated "17C 4/3/62, 47460 at Rowsley". Unfortunately the album owner/photographer name is not known.

This was an H. Fowler designed class 3F, 0-6-0T engine, built by W. G. Bagnall and new to the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) in Dec 1926, carrying No. 16543, changing in 1934 to 7460. In 1948 the railways were nationalised, becoming British Railways (BR), the engine renumbered to No. 47460 in Apr 1949. The locomotive was withdrawn from service and scrapped in May 1963 at the BR Derby Works.
