London Transport loco No. L50 boiler/firebox - May 1955

            An old negative of the firebox and boiler of London Transport (LT) steam tank locomotive No. L50 being worked on at an unknown engine/locomotive shed/depot (Lillie Bridge Depot?). On the neg cover is 'L50', and what looks like the date 20/5/55.

L50 was a F Class 0-6-2T engine, built by the Yorkshire Engine Company for mainline freight work, and new to the Metropolitan Railway (MET) in 1901 carrying number 91. In 1933 the MET was absorbed into the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB/LT) when the engine was renumbered from 91 to L50. It was withdrawn in 1958 then scrapped.
