The Road through Hoo-Doo Land - a photo on Flickriver

            The stars were out when I left the hotel, but they were obscured at the first two canyons where I wanted to do star photography. Little did I know that they were obscured by smoke. The temperature at the base of the mountain was 60* F. At 2500 feet up the mountain (5000 feet above sea level) it was 72*F! The strong temperature inversion close to the ground prevented the smoke from settling close enough to smell it.
