James Bridge Aqueduct from the Walsall Canal

Walk on the Walsall Canal.

Starting from Walsall Town Centre via the Walsall Town Arm, then down towards the M6 motorway, getting off at James Bridge Aqeuduct.

I finished this canal walk at the James Bridge Aqueduct (although was originally thinking of going a bit further).

There is a towpath exit down to Bentley Mill Way near the River Tame, that road leads to James Bridge, with the nearby bus stops.

It was built in 1797.

Aqueduct carrying Walsall Canal over Bentley Mill Lane, and formerly over
River Tame. 1797. Brick with sandstone keystones. Two round arches with
abutments curved on plan. South side partly rebuilt in C19 brick. String
course below parapet. Attached to central pier on the south side is a cast
iron plate inscribed: "MDCCXCVII".
