The Theatre Royal in Nottingham, or as it is now known the Royal Centre Theatre.

Theatre. 1865. By CJ Phipps for W & J Lambert. Remodelled
1897-98 by Frank Matcham for Robert Arthur and Henry Moss.
Restored and remodelled 1976-78 by Renton Howard Wood Levin
Partnership. The front elevation and most of the auditorium
were retained. Stucco front, the remainder white tile cladding
with metal roofing.
Front, 2 storeys, 9 window range, has a Corinthian portico, 5
bays, with dentillated cornice. Renewed pendant lamps in each
bay. Blind attic storey with panelled pilasters topped with
urns. Front, divided by pilasters, has 5 round-arched double
doors with elongated keystones. Above, 5 similar openings with
French windows with cast-iron balconies. Side bays, topped
with cornice and balustrade, have 2 similar transomed windows
on each floor. Right return has 2 windows on each floor, the
left return, single window and door.
INTERIOR: foyers, bars, box office and concrete dogleg main
stair, all 1977. Circular auditorium with shallow domed
ceiling, 1865, and 3 cantilever balconies, 1897, with their
original decoration. Boxes, proscenium and rear screen to
dress circle, 1977. Some original wooden roof structure to
auditorium, with winch for chandelier.
