Aanlegsteiger van het veertje "De Vriendschap" op Vlieland. Het veertje varend tussen Texel en Vlieland.
Vroeger het postbootje, tegenwoordig een bootje wat dagelijks toeristen overzet.

Zeker een eiland zijn. Zeker de brug
nog weigeren zolang je kan, de dijk
niet denken. Buiten het bereik
blijven van wat daar op de grens
van lucht en water loert: het land
waar eindeloos hongerig land achter ligt.

Maar wel de steiger teren voor het veer,
de vaargeul open houden, het uitzicht
bewaren op wat voor ieder kind weer
in dromen opdoemt: later ooit nog van
hier oversteken naar wat daar onzicht-
baar lokkend ligt: de overkant.

Formerly the mail boat, nowadays a boat that transfers tourists every day.

Definitely be an island. Certainly the bridge
still refuse while you can, the dike
not thinking. Out of range
stay away from what's out there on the border
of air and water lurks: the land
behind which lies endless hungry land.

But tarring the jetty for the ferry,
keeping the fairway open, the view
keep it on what for each child again
looms up in dreams: later ever of
crossing here to what is there invisible-
luring lies: the other side.
