6PS7 Mile End 02/01/2024

            After resuming it’s journey to Sydney earlier in the day, diverted PN Intermodal service 6PS7 from Kewdale to Chullora works away from Adelaide through Mile End on the mainline behind NR45/NR74/NR51 on Tuesday the 2nd of January 2024. This train was stabled at Peterborough for 40 hours from 31/12/2023 due to a level crossing accident involving fellow PN train 7SP5 (NR41/NR79) and a truck at the locality of Bindarrah, between Olary and Mingary earlier in the day which resulted in two fatalities to the train drivers. 

The subsequent investigations and clean up will close the railway to Broken Hill until early next week with rail traffic to be diverted via the Adelaide Hills, Western Victoria and North East Victoria to reach New South Wales and Western Australia. In order to get 6PS7 to Adelaide, NR74/NR45 had earlier ran around their train to change direction with NR51 and additional loading later added at the Adelaide Freight Terminal.
