nyc - pinkerton clubhouse 5 - a photo on Flickriver

            Pinkerton Clubhouse for the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club (Rogers Partners Architects + Urban Designers, completed 2019). Another nice bit of well-designed contemporary work on a budget, showcased in the last proper Open House New York weekend. The Club offers an impressive range of educational and recreational options for neighborhood kids, at genuinely affordable prices. The architects in this case assist in the mission by creating a want-to-be space, with natural light in nearly every interior, and an institutional appearance largely avoided through material, color, and some choice asymmetries in form. I can imagine this being a pretty cool place to pass a lot of teenage hours. 155th Street and Bradhurst Avenue, Harlem.
