St Mary MT - The Coffee & Pie Place: Park Cafe

Behold the place where the mountains meet the plains

The Park Cafe in St Mary is know widely as "the pie place". Pies are fresh baked - daily - and their fame is an unkept secret among those in the know of Glacier National Park special places.

Melissa Scott our certified Glacier Guide - who worked for Natural Habitat Adventures - was our guide/leader. When a student Melissa worked summers at this Cafe. On free time she hiked the mountains/ peaks of the Park. Ofttimes taking pie in a cup as her only nourishment.

The pie not eaten by the end of the day was free for staff & certain others. However, it had to be put into a paper cup to ensure that it could not be resold. Thus "the pie in the cup" was born.
