Making apple compote_0640 - a photo on Flickriver

            Making apple compote is as easy as falling off a log. Cut apples into slices (peeled or not, as you like) and add a little water (only about 10% of the volume of apples). Sugar if you like, but we prefer unsweetened. The sweetness will of course also depend a lot on the apples themselves. Many apples picked these days are under-ripe, although surprisingly even these will make an acceptable compote.
