During the hike from Willow Lake Road to the Reservoir I discovered this solo Hookers Evening Primrose which I knew would be my first image of the day - once setup (well just pulled my tripod off my shoulder with long lens already attached) I moved a few feet to my left, recomposed, shut down my f-stop to see if I could get a little more flower stem but kind of lost my blurry background and it was just way to windy to stop the movement of this subject so I decided to shoot wide open (which doesn't happen to often with my style of shooting).  Soon enough the wind stopped for about 1/500 of a second (those who have been out there know how bad the wind is) and finally got my chance to squeeze my cable release button. 

I thought this was a nice treat before I got to the song birds and waders area.

Word of Wisdom -  just because you have a 600 mm attached, don't think you have to switch lenses to capture delicate flowers such as seen above.
