Dorchester Heights, South Boston - a photo on Flickriver

Victory Tower atop Dorchester Heights (also known as both Thomas Park and Telegraph Hill) in South Boston (MA) where, "Backed by cannons hauled from Fort Ticonderoga in New York, Patriot soldiers fortified these heights in March 1776, forcing the evacuation of British troops from Boston." In 1898 the tower was commissioned as a monument to commemorate the historic event. Designed by architects Peabody and Sterns, the Georgian revival tower is faced with white marble.
