Red & Green Machines @ St Leonards - a photo on Flickriver

            Taken mid October, Gatwick Express 387 204 passes Southern 377 143 on the sea front at Bulverhythe, St Leonards. St Leonards Depot, filled with a treasure trove of preserved Southern DMUs is behind them on the left. On the sea front cycle and foot path a dog sits watching as it's owner bags up it's recent 'deposit'!

We were down in Hastings as we are every mid October for the Hastings Bonfire Festival. However, as the festival was cancelled this year for obvious reasons we still went as it would be our last minibreak for sometime. It would also mean I could get shots of a unique working at the moment, as during the pandemic season Southern is running a Brighton to Ore service using Gatwick Exoress stock along the Sussex coast. 

We decided to take our bikes down on the train as well so we could do some cycling on the coast and get around a lot more. We spent the afternoon of our arrival, in glorious weather, cycling to Bexhill and back. Arriving at the footbridge outside St Leonards depot, I didn't have long to wait before one of the bright red GatEx 387s arrivied at the same time as one of the usual Southern services along this stretch of coast, making for a nice splash of colour!
