CNW C44-9W #8701 - a photo on Flickriver

CNW C44-9W #8701

            Union Pacific has long been a willing participant in many festivities at the Illinois Railway Museum. For 2008's Diesel Days, Uncle Pete sent their CNW Heritage SD70ACe, #1995, along with CNW Dash 9 #8701. #8701 (along with sister #8646) were the last two un-patched Chicago & North Western units at the time. Dubbed "The Twins" by foamers and railroaders alike, they spent most of the 2005-2015 era in transfer service around Chicagoland. Eventually they finally got the yellow dip and were shortly thereafter placed into storage. I'm not sure of either of their current whereabouts.
