Barbers Lake Paddle & Parade Party - a photo on Flickriver

Canoes are assembling before they set out on an organized paddle around Barbers Lake. This event was held to show community solidarity in the face of the threatened destruction of this lake and the surrounding shore and wetlands, by Cavanagh Construction, who want to enlarge an existing gravel pit and to deepen it to extract gravel from below the water table.
