Boxing @ The Duce

In downtown Phoenix there is a interesting new type of revitalization experiment going on. Housed in an historic 1928 brick warehouse just two blocks south of downtown Phoenix, the duce is the brainchild of Steve & Andi Rosenstein, the original entrepreneurial dynamic duo behind the clothing brand, Fitigues.

Mike Olbinski (www.flickr.com/photos/mikeolbinski/) taught me how to do a 9 exposure process for HDR. I tried it first here. Usually I denoise my imgaes before I put them into HDR processing but with these I just put them all into Photomatix for prcoessing. No issue although it is a longer process. I used the detail processing method and after modifying color, smoothing etc I had my image which I have to say looked great.

I then denoised the imaged using Topaz denoise and then popped it into Topaz adjust for giggles although it really didn't need it. After playing around in Topaz adjust I landed on "spicify" and I liked what I got. I then played with the enhancements and landed on a image i liked. From there I used Aperture to sharpen some key areas, and tone down some highlights.

I wish I had set the shot up different with the bag more to the left but I liked the text that shows through on the left.

Appropriately nicknamed “The Deuce” by local cops during prohibition, this gritty "corner pocket" of the city housed produce purveyors by day...but after dark when the desert cooled off, this place got h-o-t! Booze & jazz, dice & vice became the commodities of the evening. The Duce also allows you to have a boxing workout for $5.
