            Once upon a time, I was having a situation with a couple of employees at the place where I worked. I went to see my boss and gave him the scoop. He told me, "Dave, if you want to run with big dogs, you can't be peeing like a puppy." And so it is with these male Elephant Seals as they practice their fighting skills prior to the breeding season.

If you feel the need to breed than you better be ready to fight for the privilege. That's the mantra at Ano Nuevo during the winter months and there's a lot at stake. The eventual winners carry the responsibility for the survival of the fittest in their loins. No puppies allowed on the breeding grounds.
