Ouse Valley Viaduct Arches - a photo on Flickriver

Connecting Sussex to the capital on the Brighton Mainline is The Ouse Valley Viaduct. Opened in 1841, a fine specimen of brick viaduct. 11 millions bricks were used in making the viaduct, shipped from The Netherlands. Known for its ornate design, the structure has been described as "probably the most elegant viaduct in Britain." This photo shows the 37 arches/spans/balustrades that make up the viaduct.
