Will Rogers Highway Marker: Old Mail Route

            I usually photograph every historic marker I see, but I usually don't publish them.  This one seems out of the ordinary and worth a look.

At first glance, I wondered if there is a series of markers in this style across Oklahoma.  It's numbered A-21, so shouldn't there at least be 20 others?  Route 66 through Oklahoma was known as the Will Rogers Memorial Highway in the early days and this marker includes a Rogers logo on the left.  Also, modern designs don't have this level of design to cut costs.

When I do a google search for this style of markers, this one marker is the only one which pops up.  It's located at the Catoosa Whale park which didn't open until the 1970s, so it's either less than 50 years old, or relocated here, I suppose.  Also, this is in Rogers County, which was named after the likeable celebrity from 100 years ago.
