Considering the Spectators - a photo on Flickriver

            This was our final morning on the Kinabatangan River searching for wildlife, in particular orangutans. It was getting late after travelling well up a side tributary, and we were about to emerge into the main river. It was already hot and we were pretty much resigned to not seeing any orangutans when my friend, Steve, suddenly excitedly shouted out. 
He'd spotted one hanging on a bridge constructed across the channel to allow orangutans, boxed in by palm oil plantations away from the river, to cross from one area of forest to another. Although they had been camera trapped using the bridges, this was the first time anybody had actually seen one using a bridge, so the guide was as excited as we were.
