Carolina Rose with Halictid Bee - a photo on Flickriver

            Rosa carolina in bloom at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens. The holes in the leaves and petals are likely courtesy of Japanese beetles. They were all over these roses and some of the other plants in the gardens. The pollinator here was a metallic green bee, my guess would be possibly Augochlorella or Augochloropsis genus. This is one of last year's images taken with softer light than the ones I got this year, which shows the soft pink color of the petals and yellow flower center a bit more faithfully than harsh sunlight.
