The Flying Scotsman on the World's Oldest River (1989)

            Historic and rare: one of the World's most famous steam locomotives, the former LNER 4472 "Flying Scotsman" crosses the oldest river in the World, The Finke River in Australia's Northern Territory on August 14, 1989. The journey into the Centre of Australia to Alice Springs, was one of the highlights of the locomotive's tour of Australian states. 
Three of us railfans from Adelaide chased the train 1650km from near Broken Hill in NSW to Alice Springs over several days. 
Sadly the light wasn't always favourable for capturing the action on Kodachrome film, but as it was a one-off historic event. the challenge was to make what we could of the opportunities. IIRC there were only 3 maybe 4 of us photographers at this iconic bridge location, making the photos rather special and very rare.
