Kakabeka Falls, outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario

            While at 40 m's (120 ft) these falls are not the highest, they certainly are magnificent, especially during the spring when they are fed from distant snowmelt and recent rain. You can follow trails and see the falls from both sides, they offer quite different views. Although it doesn't happen all the time, on our visit, with the rising mist and strong wind, one side was partially closed as it was just too wet.  There's also history here, as this was an important trade route for the Voyageurs and explorers, who had to portage around them.
