Paris - Hotel de ville de Paris - a photo on Flickriver

well, it was challenging to take the shot the way it appears above. first of all, my dream was to capture day-time long exposure. easy ha!! not really, since it's the middle of the day! the light is too bright for long exposures. and here the 'Vari ND filter' come over to solve the problem by cutting the lights entering the lens by 2-10 stops max. for this specific shot, I think i set it around 6 stops.
the polarizing filter was attached to the lens as well, that cuts 2 more stops! so we're cutting the light by 8 stops in total.. great...

well, there is another issue! the sky becomes over exposed easily with long exposures!
ummm the Grad ND filter comes to place now! i can't remember witch Grad ND i fitted at that time, ND4 or ND8!! but it did the job perfectly by shading the left top corner and reserved the details of the clouds nicely, that without the filter will be blown out...

This is in total allowed me to stretch the exposure to 8 seconds..

but lots of objects could move in 8 seconds! well that's true and that's why i spent like 2 hours shooting hoping less objects move in the frame each time, luckily, the main subject in the frame (the girl) is almost as sharp as i hoped!
