Five-Spice Powder Fried Oyster Banh Mi with Roasted Garlic Butter

The banh mi is a classic Southeast Asia dish, traditionally served on a Vietnamese baguette with a smear of pate' and addition of meat – often pulled pork – and fresh garnishes like cucumber, carrot, cilantro and peppers.

Here is my take: Five-Spice Powder Fried Oyster Banh Mi with Roasted Garlic Butter. In the recipe I dredge oysters (look for local, sustainable bivalves) in a flour/cornmeal/five-spice powder mix and fry them up until golden and crispy.
