Embrace the Oasis @ Mhamid, Morocco - a photo on Flickriver

A very typical oasis landscape. Straight out of our childhood fairy tail book. This is exactly how we used to imagine an oasis.

This place is very close to Mhamid called Rash Nahel. This being the end of the desert, the sand layer is thin and there are under ground water for dates and palm trees to survived.

I have spotted this location while filming the location and immediately decided that as a photo location as well. But I had to wait a bit for the right light. Closed to sun down the low cloud started getting some color. So I used the 100 500 to isolate this patch.

Initially I took an image without any human subject and it looked a bit empty. So I asked my wife to stand there as my model and her red dress was just perfect. But I would have preferred a white dress instead as there is already too much red in the image and while would have looked even better.

It was very calm day and there was almost no wind. But just at that time the wind started blowing and little movement of her long skirt added to the image.

Firstly I took a high DOF image at F16 with her and the palm trees in background all in focus. But I found not much depth on that. So later I have taken this one at F5.6 where she is slightly isolated from the background trees. I felt this is more powerful as a composition. Maybe I will share the other ones later some time.
