The public buildings of Neutelings Riedijk can be easily recognized – they always have a monumental central staircase which adds new and alternative functionality to their buildings. An other dominant design trait is prominently displayed here: the modular ornamented design of its inner and outer spaces (in this case: the ceiling of the Eemhuis public library reading room).
The architects actively use this ornamentation to give the building its own unique identity and there is always link to the function of the edifice, but often that link is (heavily) coded.

Other examples are Rozet (2013) in Arnhem, a multi-functional cultural building containing a public library, the Volks-universiteit, a museum and some other facilities, Beeld & Geluid, again the Eemhuis in Amersfoort and the MAS in Antwerp.
