1955 Kent Micronite Cigarette Pack De-Witt Clinton Tax Stamp - Series 125

            Close-up view of a vintage, Series-125, 1-inch wide, blue DeWitt-Clinton tax stamp sealed within the cellophane wrapper of a Kent Micronite cigarette pack.  This particular pack is from 1955, within the era of crocidolite asbestos usage in the Micronite filter media.

It should probably be noted, there are similar vintage Kent cigarette packs without the asbestos-containing Micronite filters, which have different sized tax stamps and subtle printed labeling changes on the pack.

For example, there are Kent packs with blue Dewitt-Clinton tax stamps printed as "Series-125", but are narrower and measure approx. 3/4"-inch in width (not 1"-inch wide).

Additionally, these packs typically indicate "New" near the scroll design on the packs label.

All of the vintage Kent Micronite packs with the 3/4"-inch wide, "Series-125" tax stamp and contain "New" on the label which have been tested by this examiner have demonstrated no asbestos content.

These early interim packs with "modified" tax stamps and labeling were likely changed due to product modification by P. Lorillard when asbestos was replaced with cellulose-acetate in the Micronite filters around the late-1955/early-1956 era.
