Colorado Springs, CO Citadel Mall - JC Penney's

            The Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs, Colorado was designed by Chris Ramos Group Architects & Planners out of Kansas City, Missouri and developed by General Growth Development Corporation. The original two anchors were a J.C. Penney's on the south end and a Denver Dry Goods (The Denver) on the north end. General Growth added a west wing in 1984 anchored by a May D&F. After Denver Dry Goods was acquired by May D&F, the Denver became a Mervyn's in 1987. May D&F was rebranded as Foley's in 1993 and then Macy's in 2006. A Dillard's was added to the mall in 1995 and it was converted into a Dillard's Clearance Center in 2015. Mervyn's closed in 2006 and the building was taken over by Burlington. Macy's closed in 2009.
