Chapelle de Piétât à Saint- Savin (Uz)

            Bâtie sur un promontoire rocheux dominant la vallée, cette chapelle est située dans un site magnifique à l’écart du village. Très peu de renseignements subsistent sur ses origines et son histoire ancienne. Ce n’était ni une église paroissiale, ni une dépendance de l’abbaye. La plus ancienne mention de cette chapelle date de 1493. A cette époque une Confrérie de Notre-Dame de Piétat est attestée. Constituée de prêtres et de laïcs, et maintenue jusqu’à la Révolution Française, elle comptait, en 1555, près de 160 membres dont 12 prêtres. Vendue comme Bien National à la Révolution, cette chapelle sera restaurée et rendue au culte au milieu du XIXe siècle sous l’épiscopat de Monseigneur Laurence. Elle est inscrite sur l’inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques depuis 1935.
