            Late afternoon the bright light shines clearly on the long mural that drivers can see as they pass by In order to study the meaning or savor the brushwork in the composition, something much slower than a car is best - in this case a bicycle, but better still is to admire it up close on foot. The city of Grand Rapids seems to have dozens of murals on the sides of buildings, perhaps in part due to the presence downtown of the KCAD, Kendall College of Art and Design. Or maybe it comes in connection with the annual "Art Prize" competition that ran for 10 years before switching to even years (but fall 2020 the pandemic cancelled its normal display) and confining exhibitors to local artists in the odd numbered years.
