Paparazzo - a photo on Flickriver

Paparazzo

            For three days, I shot like a paparazzo. It was just like shooting the red carpet at the Oscars.

"Darth Maul! Over here, please? Maul!" (click) "Zatanna! Could you flare your cape a little, please?" (click) One more, please? (click) thank you!"

That's a condensed version. My actual procedure was:

1) Approach with camera at "parade rest."

2) Address cosplayer by character name and ask for a photo. Say "please."

3) Allow cosplayer to make adjustments and pose as desired.

4) Make one simple, immediate request for pose if desired ("Could I see more of your cape, please?") if it's the sort of request that can be communicated simply and clearly.

5) Short countdown so they know when not to blink.

6) (optional) "One more, please?" and then an immediate second shot.

7) Lower camera, make eye contact, smile, and thank Wonder Woman for her time.

I hope this showed a proper level of thoughtfulness. These people spent hours getting into costume. All I really did was make sure I remembered to take my camera with me.

I do like the fact that when I said "Wonder Woman...?" this other lady turned around as well. It shows an admirable amount of self-confidence.

Or have I blown the rebooted Wonder Woman's new secret identity?
